Abstract:Objective To explore the factors of predicting outcome of Graves disease after 131I therapy. Methods Two hundred and sixty patients with Graves disease were given 131I therapy and then were followed up for a year.Thirty six patients of early hypothyroidism were therapy group.Using case-control study method, gender, age, goiter size, radioactive iodine uptake, dose of 131I therapy and desired dose per gram of thyroid were compared between the early hypothyroidism group and control group to explore the value factor in predeting early hypithyroidism. Results Goiter size of patients of early hypothyroidism Was similar(μ=1.59,P>0.05)when thyroid were divided into Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ degree by thyroid size.131I turnover rate of early hypothyroidism(0.66±0.19,0.79±0.21) wsa significanly lower than that in controlgroup(t=2.712,P<0.05).Desired dose per gram of thyroid of early hypothyroidism group were significantly higher than dose of patients of control group(u=2.144,P<0.05).Conclusion 131 I turnover rate and desired dose per gram of thyroid are two effective prognostic markers of early hypothyroidism.
