Abstract:Objective To discuss the method of rapid pathological diagnosis of thyroid follicular lesions. Methods One hundred and twenty-four cases of thyroid follicular lesions in general, frozen section, imprint cytology characteristics and routine pathological diagnosis after surgery were retrospectively analyzed. Results There were 74 cases of adenoma or adenomatous,35 cases of follicular variant of papillary carcinoma, Three cases of follicular carcinoma,5 cases of oncocytoma variant carcinoma,2 cases of medullary carcinoma-follicular trabecular type and 5 cases of reported delayed diagnosis of follicular neoplasm. Three cases of delayed diagnosis cases was follicular adenoma, giant follicular variant of papillary carcinoma and micro-invasive follicular carcinoma capsule. Most cancers showed gray matter nodules or hard capsule violation and cellular atypia or nipple can be seen in cytological imprints. Conclusions Thyroid follicular lesions is a group of lesions consisting mainly of follicular structure. The diagnosis and differential diagnosis are significant in thyroid rapid pathology. Microscopic diagnosis of comprehensive specimens, imprint cytology examination and frozen section histology analysis can make correct diagnosis of most of follicular lesions.
