Abstract:Objective To observe the influence of subclinical hypothyroidism on c-reactive protein (CRP) and microalbuminuria (MAU) in patients with coronary heart disease. Methods The level of serum triglyceride ( TG), total cholesterol( TC), homocysteine (Hcy), CRP and urinary MAU was measured in 80 patients with coronary heart disease (of them 40 complicated with subclinical hypothyroidism). Results The levels of TG, TC,CRP, and MAU increased significantly in the patients complicated with subclinical hypothyroidism as compared with those without subclinical hypothyroidism ([(1.7±0.8)mmol/L vs (1.5±0.5)mmol/L, ( 5.7 ± 0.8 ) mmol/L vs (4.5 ±0.7)mol/L, (4.8 ± 1.6)mg/L vs (3.1 ± 1.3)mg/L, (51.2 ±3.5)mg/L vs (42.4±4.7)mg/L]P<0.01 or P<0.05). Conclusions Subclinical hypothyroidism can not only affect lipid metabolism, but also increase inflammation and microalbuminuria in patients with coronary heart disease.
