Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of silymarin on the expression of Angiotensin Ⅱ in the kidneys of rats ith unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO) -induced renal fibrosis. Methods Fifty-six rats were randomly assigned to shame peration group, operation group and silymarin[30 mg/(kg·d)] treatment group after unilateral ureteral obstruction. Tubulointerstitial fibrosis model was established via unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO).Renal tissues were examined by light microscopy 7,14,21 days after operation. Immunhistochemistry was applied to measure the expression of Angiotensin Ⅱ in the renal interstitium. Results Silymarin may significantly ameliorate pathological change of nephridial tissue after unilateral ureteral obstruction. Silymarin may down-regulate the expression of Angiotensin Ⅱ in renal tissue. Conclusion Silymarin may inhibit renal fibrosis by down-regulating Angiotensin Ⅱ expression, which may play a key role in protection against renal fibrosis.
