Fluctuation of glucose in well-controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus with continuous glucose monitoring system

Abstract：Objective To observe the glucose fluctuation in well-controlled(HbA1c ＜ 6.5%)type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Fourty-two patients with type 2 diabetes whose HbA1c were ＜ 6.5% underwent continuous glucose monitoring system(CGMS)for 72 hours. Results The incidence of hypoglycemia was 28.6%(12 patients)and 0:00-4:00 is the peak period.Asymptomatic hypoglycemia was found in 4 patients.The blood glucose levels above 11.1 mmol/L was 42.9%(18 patients),88.9%(16 patients)had postprandial high glucose. Conclusions CGMS can comprehensively reflect the glucose fluctuation of well-controlled patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.CGMS can detect asymptomatic hypoglycemic and hyperglycemic events.
