Abstract:Objective To observe the changes and clinic significance of levels of serum interleukin 6(IL-6)and interleukin 8(IL-8)in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods The serum level of IL-6 and IL-8 of 90 patients with acute cerebral infarction and 30 healthy persons was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).All the patients were scored by clinic neurological function deficit scale(NDS),and comparision was made among the groups. Results The serum level of IL-6 and IL-8 of the patients was significantly higher than that of the normal control(P < 0.01),and the serum level of IL-6 and IL-8 of the group with serious cerebral infarction was significantly higher than the groups with middle and mild cerebral infarction(P < 0.05),the serum level of IL-6 and IL-8 of the group with middle cerebral infarction was significantly higher than the groups with mild cerebral infarction(P < 0.05). Conclusions Serum levels of IL-6 and IL-8 increase markedly in patients with acute cerebral infarction. The elevation is closely related to the degree of neurological impairment.
