Analysis of nosocomial infection and risk factors of inpatient in neurology intensive care unit

Abstract：Objective To evaluate nosocomial infection and risk factors of inpatients in Department of Neu-rology Intensive Care Unit( NICU) and to define strategies for controlling infection. Methods Investigate the noso-comial infection among 538 inpatients in the department of NICU during the period from October 2004 to October 2009. Results The incidence of nosocomial infection was 50.92%. The main parts were the respiratory passages,urinary tract and gastrointestinal. The common risk factors were stating of consciousness, invasive operation, hospi-talization period and age. Conclusions The incidence of nosocomial infection in Department of NICU is higher than that in other departments. We should stress the surveillance based on risk factors to reduce incidence rate and death rate.
