Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of Vascular endothelial grouth factor( VEGF) and Ma-trix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7) in esophageal carcinoma and other esophageal disease. Methods The protein ex-pression of VEGF and MMP-7 in 60 cases with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma 30 cases of normal tissue were determined by immunohistochemical strep tavidinperoxidase method. Results The expression of VEGF and MMP-7 increased obviously in esophageal carcinoma. The decreased VEGF and MMP-7 expression was correlated with lymph node metastasis infiltration deph and TNM stage, the expression of MMP-7 was inversely correlated with the expression of VEGF in esophageal carcinoma. Conclusion VEGF and MMP-7 are associated with the growth of e-sophageal carcinoma and may play an important role in the metastasis of carcinogenesis of esophagus.
