The prescription assessment at Shanxi province tumor hospital in 2008

Abstract:Objective To analyze the prescription to advocate rational uses of drugs. Methods In present study, 60034 prescriptions were collected from dispensary for outpatients and inpatients, and dispensary of traditional Chinese medicine from January to December of 2008. Assessments were made according to relevant criteria and the causes of disqualification prescriptions were analyzed. Results The qualification rate of prescription in our hospital was 85% before the prescription assessment. After assessment, the qualification rate of prescription in our hospital was up to 95.80%. Among 60034 prescriptions, 2524 were not qualified (4.20%), 296 had no clinical diagnosis (0.49%) ,423(0.70% ) prescriptions had no clinic number, 450(0.75% ) with other items uncompleted ,485(0.81%) had no standard drugs name, dose and type. 62(0.10% ) showed the amount of drug kinds exceeded standard. 34(0.06% ) showed that drug usage was not accordance with clinical diagnosis. Conclusion The assessment of prescriptions can significantly help increase the proportion of prescriptions, help decrease irrational uses of drugs in clinical practices, decrease the cost of drug and promote the safety of medical practice.
