Study on the correlation of the polymorphism of RANTES gene promoter region and diabetic nephropathy in type 2 diabetic subjects

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the effect of regulated upon activation,normal T cell expressed and secreted(R.ANTES) gene promoter G-403A polymorphism on diabetic nephropathy in type 2 diabetic subjects.Methods A case-control study for 170 cases of type 2 diabetic patients,including 76 patients without diabetic complications,94 with diabetic nephropathy and 82 healthy subjects as controls was recruited.Polymorphism of G-403A in RANTES gene were determined by PCR-RFLP method.Results AA genotypo and A allele frequencies of RANTES-403 were significantly higher in diabetic nephropathy group than those in controls group (P＜0.05).Conclusion RANTES G-403A polymorphism is associated with the pathogenesis of DN.
