Clinical analysis of autoimmune hepatitis

Abstract:Objective To describe the clinical features of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) for better under-standing the diagnosis and treatment of AIH and reducing misdiagnosis of AIH. Methods Twenty-four cases of AIH admitted to Zhongshan affiliated hospital of Dalian university from January 2003 to December 2008 were retrospec-tively analyzed. Results The majority of patients were women and the age of onset was approximately 50 years. More than 80% of patients had insidious or chronic onset. Clinical manifestation included weakness(87.5%),jaun-dice (79.2%) and fever (20.8%). All patients had high serum levels of aspartate aminotransferas (AST). 91.7% patients had high level of immunoglobulin. 79.2% of patients were positive for antinuclear antibody (ANA) and 54.0% of patients were positive for AIH-related antibodies. Most patients of AIH had good prognosis. Condusions AIH are mainly female and the manifestations have no specificity. The main type of AIH is Type Ⅰ. Early diagnosis and treatment can improve prognosis.
