Correlation between onset age and adiponectin level in diabetic patients

Abstract：Objective To study the relation between adiponectin level and onset age of type2 diabetic. Methods All patients were diagnosed of type 2 diabetes according to WHO and IDF diagnosis criterion. Adiponec-tin was detected by enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay. Results The serum adiponectin was positively related with gender. It was higher in each group of patients than those in control groups. The serum adiponectin showed a negative relation with BMI and WC( P <0.01). The serum adipouectin in diabetic groups was lower than than in the control groups(P<0.01). The serum adiponectin of the younge diabetic patients were lower than the elderly pa-tients with the same gender(P < 0.01). Conclusions The serum adiponectin in young diabetic patients is lower than that in elderly patients.
