Abstract:Objective To investigate the changes and the significance of plasma lysophosphalidic acid (LPA) in patients with acute cerebral infarction(ACI). Methods The levels of plasma LPA were examined with organic solvent extraction in 67 cases of ACI and 40 cases of health examination (control group). The correlation between the levels of plasma LPA and the infarction sites was analyzed. Results The level of plasma LPA were higher in cases with ACI than those in healthy controls(P <0.01) and it reached the peak after 24 hours and went back to the normal level on the 14th day (P <0.01). The level of LPA in cortical branches was higher than that in deep branches(P <0.01). Conclusions The level of LPA in cases with ACI was related to the course of disease and the site of infarction. LPA showes the prewarning effect when the acute cerebral infarction occured. LPA has im-portant clinical significance of preventing and treating the acute cerebral infarction.
