Effect of olanzapine on patients with functional dyspepsia,depression and anxiety

Abstract：Objective To validate the safety and efficacy of olanzapin in the treatment of patients with functional dyspepsia(FD),depression and anxiety.Methods Sixty-four patients with FD,depression and anxiety were recruited and randomly divided into two groups.The control group was given domperidone(10 mg po,tid)and the observed group wag given domperidone(10 mg po,tid)plus olanzapine(2.5 mg,po,qn).The treatment circumstance was recorded one day before the treatment and weekly in a two weeks'therapy.Results After 2 weeks' observation,alleviation rates of eruction,naupathia,abdominal pain,poor appetite and insomnia were 84.6%,86.7%,90.4%,85.7%and 84.6%,respectively.The observed group had overall efficiency of 82%and the control group had 45%.No side effect was observed.Conclusion Low dose olanzapine can improve the dyspepsia symptoms of the patients with FD,depression and anxiety.
