Effect of Yishenjuanshi on proliferation of glomerular mesangial cell and secretion of extracellular matrix

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of"Yishenjuanshi"traditional Chinese herbs on the proliferation of glomerular mesangial cells(GMCs)and the secretion of extracellular matrix.Methods All herbs in"Yishenjuanshi"were boiled in water and concentrated into different dozes.GMCs were cultured in serum free medium for 48hs and then 10%FSC-DMEM with or without serum containing"Yishenjuanshi"to detect GMCs proliferation and inhibated secretion of extracellular marx by MTT and Elisa respectively.Results Low,medium and high dose of "Yishenjuanshi"treatment significantly inhibited GMC proliferation when GMCs were cultured for 24,48and 72 hs and inhibated secretion of extracellular matrix at 72 hs.The inhibition ratios of cell proliferation increased as the doses increased.Conclusion "Yishenjuanshi"treatment inhibits GMC proliferation and secretion of extracellular matrix.
