Therapeutic effect of magnesiumsulfate and phentolamine on infants with severe pneumonia

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy of magnesium sulfate and phentolamine for treatment of infants with severe pneumonia.Methods Ninety-six cases of infants with severe pneumonia were randomly devided into the treatment group(48 cases) and the control group(48 cases). Two groups were received regular treatment. Meanwhile the treated group were were received additional magnesium sulfate and phentolamine. Results The tatal effective rates of the treatment group and of the control group were 93.7% and 77.1%. Symptoms and rales improved more in treated group than in control one(P<0.05). Conclusions Magnesium sulfate and phentolamine as add-on treatment of infants with severe pneumonia is effective.
