A comparison between the compression plate and interlocking intramedullary nail for treatment of tibal shaft fractrues

Abstract：Objective To compare the therapeutic efficiency between the Compression plate and interlocking intramedullary nail for treatment of tibal shaft fractrue. Methods Two hundred and five cases of tibal shaft fracture were divided into the Compression plate group(group A ,141cases) and the intramedullary nail group(group B ,64cases). 30 cases fractrues were open in group A,the others were close fractures in group A and group B. After treatment, the curative effect and complications were compared . Results All cases were followed up about 18 months.In group A there were 5 cases′ plate break,6 cases had infection,3 cases′ fractures were nonunion,20 cases′ankle and knee jionts were ankylotic. Group B had no these complications. Conlusion The clinical results of the interlocking intramedullary nail are more excellent than the plates in the treatment of tibal shaft fractrue.
