Abstract:Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of positive end expiratory pressure combined with scopolamine on severe acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning. Methods Thirty-eight patients with severe acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning were treated by scopolamine combined with positive end expiratory pressure(treatment group). 38 patients with severe acute organo phosphorus pesticide poisoning treated by routine therapy(control group) were also enrolled. The activity of choline esterase (CHE), dosage of ponehyclidine hydrochloride, duration of coma, time of mechanicaiventilation, mortality, hospitalization time and incidence of complications were detecte. Results Compared with control group, the activity of CHE, duration of coma, time of mechanical ventilation, mortality and incidence of complication in treatment group were significantly decreased (P< 0.05). Conclusion Scopolamine combined with positive end expiratory pressure has a definite therapeutic effect on severe acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning.
