Capsule endoscope in diagnosis of small intestinal diseases in elderly patients

Abstract：Objective To discuss the diagnostic value of capsule endoscope for small intestinal diseases in elderly patients. Methods Retrospectively analysis in elderly patients were enrolled. The diagnostic data of 57 patients suspected of small intestinal disease were collected for analysis. Results A total of 48 patients showed pos-itive findings, including angiodysplasia in 16 cases, Crohn's disease in 10, inflammatory small intestinal polyps in 8,1eiomyoma in 6, small bowel leiomyoma in 3, Pseudo membranous colitis 2, lymphoma in 2 and carcinoid in 1 case. Small bowel leiomyoma, lymphoma, carcinoid were diagnosed via operation. Conclusion Capsule endo-scope can be used in elderly patients with systemic diseases or alimentary tract hemorrhage with indefinite reason.Capsule endoscope shows a high diagnostic value for elderly patients with enteropathy.
