Abstract:Objective To evaluate Radiopaque markers of gastric emptying for diagnosis of diabetic gastro-paresis. Methods Fifty patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were enrolled. The gastric empty were measured by radionuclide imaging ( RNI ), radiopaque markers ( ROMs), 6 hour gastric evacuation rate (GER) and Gel/2. Results The sensitivity and specificity were 88.9% and 81.3% respectively when 6 hour GER was 100%, and they were 72.2% and 93.8% respectively when 6 hour GER was 90%. The area under ROC curve and the Kappa value were 0. 884, 0.67, respectively. The prevalence of DGP was 44%. Conclusion There is close correlation between RNI and ROMs for measuring gastric emptying. ROMs is good for evaluating morbidity or epidemiology of DGP.
