Endoscopic and open surgery in treatment of common bile duct stones

Abstract：Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of endoscopic and open surgery of choledocholithiasis. Methods Comparative study was applied to observe therapeutic effects of the two treatments: endoscopic therapy(42 cases) and using surgical treatment(28 patients). Results Complications in endoscopic therapy group were less than surgical treatment group. Conclusion EST is the preferred method of treatment for common bile duct stones. But common bile duct stones with stones greater than 1.5 cm or gallstones merger should receive open surgery.
