Nutritional support in serious hepatitis patients after liver transplantation

Abstract:Objective To investigate the modality and value of nutritional support for serious hepatitis patients underwent liver transplantation. Methods Glycose and electrolyte were needed for basal metabolism and homeostasis at 1-2 day posttransplantation. TPN was performed after vital signs stable and homeostasis, and minor glucose and saline was infused by gastrogavage to promote intestinal function recover. Liquid diet was given after extubation and part of engery was supplemented through deep vein. TPN was stopped after normal diet recovery. ALT, AST, albumin, nitrogen balance were examined at 2 and postoperative 7 day respectively. Results ALT, AST and nitrogen balance were improved significanty with no change of serum albumin. Condnsion Early postoperative nutritional support for serious hepatitis patients underwent liver transplantation can improve the nutritional status with modality from parenteral alimentation to enteral nutrition combined with parenteral alimentation, and finally to autonomic diet.
