Percutaneous transhepatie cholangiographic drainage guided by ultrasound for obstructive jaundice

Abstract:Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of the percutaneous transhepatic cholangiographic drainage (PTCD) guided by ultrasound for treatment of obstructive jaundice. Methods Nineteen patients with biliary obstruction underwent PTCD guided by ultrasound. Results First attempt of PTCD guided by ultrasound succeed in eighteen patients, with second attempt succession in one patient. Overall successful rate was 100%. No complications such as bleeding and bile peritonitis occured. Conclusion PTCD guided by ultrasound is an efficient technique to treat patients with biliary obstruction that is difficult to be cured by operation or not suitable for first-stage operation.
