Pain Palliation of 153Sm-EDTMP for bone metastases of lung cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer

Abstract：Objective To observe the effect of 153Sm-EDTMP for treating bone metastases of lung cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer . Methods A hundred and sixty-six patients with bone metastases were intravenously given 153Sm-EDTMP, 18.5～37 MBq/kg (0.5～1.0mCi/kg) body weight, once a month or every 2 months. Results The effective rate of bonepain palliation of 153Sm-EDTMP treating bone metastases of lung cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer were 68.5%, 89.3% and 100% respectively. Furthermore there was significant difference between lung cancer and breast cancer (P<0.05), 81.5% of patients suffered from side effect of transient leukopenia or thrombocypenie. Conclusion 153Sm-EDTMP shows effective in treating bone metastases of breast cancer and prostate cancer, with easy application, rare side effect.
