Abstract:Along with rapid development and urbanization, soil and water loss in high-density cities has attracted great attention. The Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area belongs to a high-density urban agglomeration, with features of complex topography, strong rainfall erosivity and abundant materials, which provide abundant conditions for soil erosion. In recent years, slight erosionis commonly existed in the area, while the proportion of moderate and severe erosion has been gradually decreased.Based on analysis of causes of erosion in the development and destruction of land and river networks and construction,as well as comprehensive impacts of meteorological and multiple factors, negative impacts and harms on water safety, water ecology and soil resources, and damages to urban landscape and economic losses were evaluated.Suggestions are made for soil and water conservation in high-density cities, including strengthening management of construction site, improving drainage system, enhancing urban planning and technical innovation, with aims of reducing risks of soil erosion, sustainable urban development, environment quality improvement and ecological security.
