Practices of developing a large-scale sponge of urban water conservancy in Suqian City

Abstract：Currently,sponge city construction in China mainly focuses on Low Impact Development(LID).Although it enhances drainage capabilities of cities but cannot promote coordinated development of river basin,region,city and local communities.Taking Suqian City as the starting point,the concept of a"large-scale sponge of urban water conservancy"is proposed with explanations of its essence and goals,and a proposal of systematic approach that integrates river-lake system,various water facilities and precise scheduling.This shall enable effective integration with small-scale LID facilities,by creating a new model for the whole region.Based on above,it raises the idea that takes the proportion of natural water body as the fundamental indicator,to ensure city water security,optimize water allocation and improve water ecology.Discussions are also made on key indicators and implementation paths.
