Abstract:In order to seek an effective path for the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Weihe River in Shaanxi Province, based on the current development status of the Weihe River basin in terms of its natural geographic characteristics, mineral resources development, water and sand resources utilization, soil and water conservation, and water and landscape construction, the ecological function characteristics of the Weihe River in Shaanxi Province, such as discharge and transport sand, regulate water and sand, conserve water source, supply river sand, maintain base flow, maintain ecology, enrich landscape, improve environment, and protect ecologically sensitive areas, etc.,are summarized and put forward.Based on the"Pressure-State-Risk"(PSR)assessment model,a Weihe River water ecological safety assessment index system was constructed, and combined with the research and monitoring,it was assessed that the Weihe River water ecological safety in Shaanxi Province was in good condition, with 6 out of 20 indicators in ideal,4 in good,6 in fair and 4 in poor condition. It is pointed out that the water ecological safety problems of Weihe River are mainly manifested in four aspects:the co-existence of water ecological pressure and risk, the existence of short boards of flood security, the instability of the riverbed due to the unsmooth sand transport channel, the insufficiency of ecological flow. And it is necessary to take engineering and policy measures such as making up the short boards of the flood control project, restricting the sand mining of the river, adjusting the water supply structure to improve the ecological flow, and transforming the river blocking facilities to guarantee the amount of ecological sand, and other engineering and policy measures to solve these problems.
