Abstract:The Yongding River is an important water conservation area, ecological barrier, and ecological corridor in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.Since the 20th century, reduced upstream water inflow and increased water demand along the river led to a gradual deterioration of the ecological environment of lower reaches, causing severe damage to the river ecosystem. To revive ecological environment of the river, comprehensive management and ecological restoration projects were initiated for the Yongding River Basin. This study explores a practical path for the ecological environment restoration of damaged rivers, emphasizing overall planning and segmental design to guide river management schemes. It advocates the use of ecological approaches to address environmental challenges, simulating natural force-driven restoration methods and promoting the natural recovery of river morphology and ecological conditions.Comprehensive measures, including river regulation and water source protection, have been implemented to ensure the success of the river recovery process.Considering dynamic changes in governance process elements and boundary conditions,a process linkage system governance scheme is proposed. The dynamic optimization of governance strategies aims to achieve the optimal practice path for the ecological environment restoration of the Yongding River.
