Practices and observation of soil and water loss control in Dachuan District of Sichuan Province

Abstract：Dachuan District of Sichuan Province belongs to the landscape of "East-Sichuan old denudation - eroded low mountainous and hill valley region" where is vulnerable to soil erosion. The disaster has caused damage and great impact on people's lives and production. Therefore, it is necessary to explore new methods for erosion control. Based on introduction on erosion conditions in Dachuan District and reasoning of soil erosion, the successful experiences of erosion control in Dachuan District in recent years are summarized that may help to find solution for future actions. The living and production conditions of the local people have been great improved thanks to the effective measures of connecting ditches with canals, improving irrigation and drainage systems for soil and water loss control.
