Abstract：Irrigation and drainage pumping stations are critical parts of irrigation districts, which play important roles for food security, water supply and flood control security in beneficial areas of irrigation districts. The paper introduces the development of irrigation and drainage pumping stations and their roles in irrigation districts and necessity of its modernization. Discussions are made on connotation of modernization of irrigation and drainage pumping stations, objectives and standards of construction as well as recommendations.
