Safety and Efficacy Analysis of Modified Shang Ring Circumcision for Correction of Penile Torsion in Children
Abstract:Shang ring circumcision is a common method for treating pediatric phimosis and redundant prepuce, which can be performed under local anesthesia, with the advantages of simplicity, ease of operation, safety, and reliability [1]. Penile torsion refers to rotation of the penis along its longitudinal axis, with deviation of the urethral opening. The scrotal septum may spiral around the penile axis from the ventral base of the penis toward the distal end, usually rotating counterclockwise. It is often discovered during physical examination before circumcision, with a prevalence rate of 1.7% to 33.8% [2].
