Clinical Thinking and Modern Implications of the Ma Wang Dui Medical Texts in the Treatment of Urological Diseases
Abstract:The Ma Wang Dui medical texts were unearthed in 1973 from Tomb No. 3 in Mawangdui, Changsha, covering aspects such as meridians, prescriptions, sexual medicine, and health preservation, with significant clinical value. The texts provide detailed discussions on the treatment measures for common urological diseases, such as using drug therapy, dietary therapy, external treatment, and qigong therapy for erectile dysfunction; using external treatment for priapism; using non-drug therapy for premature ejaculation; using medicinal diets for decreased male libido; using internal pills and wine preparations for male infertility; and using external treatment for swelling of the penis and scrotum. This article systematically sorts out the clinical thinking of the Ma Wang Dui medical texts in treating urological diseases, and discusses their implications for modern traditional Chinese medicine urology practice.
