Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Strategies for Late-Onset Hypogonadism in Males and Prevention and Care Strategies
Abstract:Late-onset hypogonadism (LOH) in males is associated with the decline of testosterone levels related to aging, and it is one of the common diseases that harm the physical and mental health of middle-aged and elderly males. The advantages of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in treatment are obvious and the efficacy is definite. Based on the theory of Tian Gui, this team proposes the main causes of LOH as 'Tian Gui not following the time sequence', the fundamental pathogenesis of LOH as 'Tian Gui gradually exhausted, kidney deficiency and liver depression', and the basic treatment method of LOH as 'regulating and supplementing Tian Gui, strengthening the kidney and soothing the liver'. Clinically, it is based on the Xiong Can Yi Shen formula for syndrome differentiation and treatment, and different prevention and care strategies are formulated for three stages of LOH: pre-disease, disease, and post-disease. A comprehensive clinical diagnosis and treatment and prevention and care strategy for LOH has been established, aiming to provide methods and references for the prevention and treatment of LOH with TCM.
