Diagnosis and Treatment Analysis of 13 Cases of Testicular Torsion in Children with Cryptorchidism
Abstract:Cryptorchidism is one of the common diseases in pediatric urology. Testicular torsion refers to the twisting of the spermatic cord, leading to impaired blood supply to the testicle, resulting in ischemia, injury, or even necrosis [1]. The clinical manifestations of testicular torsion combined with cryptorchidism in children are often atypical, and the disease progresses rapidly, which can easily lead to misdiagnosis. If not treated promptly, it may result in testicular atrophy or necrosis [2]. Resection of the necrotic testicle not only affects the child's fertility but may also cause medical disputes. Currently, there are few reports on cases of testicular torsion in cryptorchidism in the literature. From January 2020 to October 2023, a total of 13 children with cryptorchidism and testicular torsion were admitted to Hebei Children's Hospital. This study retrospectively analyzed their clinical data to explore the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of testicular torsion in children with cryptorchidism.
