A New Support Bracket for Post-Operative Use in Children After Circumcision
Abstract:Phimosis refers to a condition where the glans penis cannot be exposed naturally or is only partially exposed, mainly characterized by complete coverage of the glans or inability to retract the foreskin. If not properly managed, it may lead to balanitis and balanoposthitis [1]. In China, almost all male children under the age of 3 may have phimosis or redundant foreskin, and among males aged 4–18 years, 40%–70% have redundant foreskin, while 10%–20% have phimosis. Approximately 29% of males have either redundant foreskin or phimosis [2]. During the post-operative dressing change after circumcision, children often experience pain and anxiety. To address the large number of children with redundant foreskin in China, this study developed a circumcision support bracket aimed at improving the medical experience. The following is a report on this research.
