Mechanism Study of Acupuncture Treatment for Chronic Prostatitis with Depression Based on the 'Brain-Heart-Kidney-Sexual Organs' Axis
Abstract:Chronic prostatitis (CP) is a common and recurrent disease in urology and male health. Due to its tendency to be chronic and recurrent, it is often accompanied by psychological issues such as depression and anxiety. Currently, Western medicine treatment has problems such as poor efficacy and significant adverse effects. Acupuncture, as a commonly used non-pharmacological therapy, has advantages such as being green, safe, and convenient to operate, and is a common method for treating CP. Professor Guo Jun's theory of the 'Brain-Heart-Kidney-Sexual Organs' axis suggests that the functions of the internal organs are closely related, and this axis is closely associated with the pathogenesis of CP and emotional disorders. This article reviews the pathogenic mechanisms of CP with depression and the impact of the 'Brain-Heart-Kidney-Sexual Organs' axis on CP with depression. It explores from multiple perspectives the mechanism by which acupuncture regulates and improves blood circulation, regulates the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems, and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, aiming to provide new ideas and methods for the clinical treatment of CP with depression.
