The anti-reproductive active compound gossypol:Progress in research

Abstract：Gossypol is a natural product extracted from cotton seeds,roots and stems,once used as a male contraceptive and lat-er found with an anti-tumor effect.Recent studies show that it has an antiviral effect after structurally modified.This review focuses on the status quo of present studies on the effects of gossypol and its derivatives in anti-reproduction and anti-PCa,with an introduction of the application of the new compounds obtained from structural modification of gossypol in the treatment of PCa.
