Effect of Prostatitis on Elevated Serum Prostate Specific Antigen Levels
Abstract:PSA is an important indicator in the diagnosis and differentialdiagnosis of prostate cancer. However, it can also be elevated by some benign prostatic diseases. This article reviews the mechanism of serum PSA elevation in the patients with prostatitis, the PSA elevation in different types of prostatitis, the relationship between component of expressed prostatic secretion and the serum PSA elevation, and the effects of prostatitis on other PSA related targets.
