Abstract:Objective To explore the predictive value of serum angiopoietin-like protein 8(ANGPTL8)and endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS)for the occurrence of cerebral infarction(CI)in patients with transient ischemic attack(TIA).Methods A total of 125 TIA patients admitted to Department of Neurology of First Hospital of Hebei Medical University between May 2021 and May 2024 were recruited, and according to their ABCD2 score for stroke risk, they were divided into severe(score:6~7,31 cases),moderate(score:4~5,52 cases)and mild(score:≤3,42 cases)risk groups. And,based on CI occurrence within 3 months, they were also assigned into a non-CI group(81 cases)and a CI group(44 cases).ELISA was used to measure serum levels of ANGPTL8 and ENOS.Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of CI in TIA patients.ROC curve was plotted to evaluate the predictive value of serum ANGPTL8 and eNOS levels for the occurrence of CI in TIA patients. Results The serum level of ANGPTL8 was gradually increased, and that of eNOS was progressively declined in the mild, moderate and severe risk groups in turn(P<0.05).The CI group exhibited significantly higher serum ANGPTL8 level and longer duration of symptoms, and lower serum eNOS level when compared with the non-CI group(P<0.01).Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that serum ANGPTL8 and symptom duration were risk factors, while serum eNOS was a protective factor for CI occurrence in TIA patients(P<0.05,P<0.01).ROC curve analysis showed that the AUC value of serum ANGPTL8 and eNOS and their combination was 0.737,0.841 and 0.907,respectively,and the combination showed the best predictive performance, with a sensitivity of 88.54%and a specificity of 80.25%.Conclusion The serum level of ANGPTL8 is increased and that of eNOS is decreased in TIA patients with CI.Their combination has high predictive value for CI occurrence after TIA.
