Research Progress on Efferocytosis and Metabolic Reprogramming of Microglia in Cerebral Stroke
Abstract:Cerebral stroke is a severe cerebrovascular disease characterized by high incidence and poor prognosis. Ischemic stroke (IS) is the most common type of cerebral stroke. During the pathological process of IS, microglia participate in the regulation of inflammatory responses by clearing apoptotic cells (AC) and debris through efferocytosis, thereby inhibiting the release of damage-associated molecular patterns [1]. In recent years, studies have found that microglia undergo metabolic reprogramming during IS, a process closely related to changes in their functional state. Metabolic reprogramming not only affects the activation and polarization of microglia but may also influence brain injury repair and neurological function recovery by regulating efferocytosis [2]. This article reviews the efferocytosis and metabolic reprogramming of microglia in IS and further explores their mutual relationships, aiming to provide new therapeutic insights for IS.
