Diagnosis and treatment of a case of stress cardiomyopathy complicated with left ventricular outflow tract obstruction induced by novel coronavirus pneumonia
Abstract:Stress cardiomyopathy, also known as Takotsubo syndrome (TTS), is an acute cardiac disease characterized by left ventricular dysfunction, involving pathophysiological mechanisms such as emotional stress, sympathetic activation, and inflammatory responses [1]. The fear associated with the novel coronavirus infection, along with sympathetic activation, not only provides conditions for TTS but may also induce shock and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO). Here, we report a case of an elderly female patient who developed TTS, shock, and LVOTO after a novel coronavirus infection, and her condition improved after drug treatment.
