Application Progress of Inhaled Nitric Oxide in Pulmonary Vascular Diseases
Abstract:Nitric oxide (NO) is generated by vascular endothelial cells through the catalytic oxidation of L-arginine by nitric oxide synthase. Its main physiological functions in the cardiovascular system include vasodilation of vascular smooth muscle, inhibition of smooth muscle cell proliferation, inhibition of cell adhesion and platelet aggregation and adhesion, and scavenging of oxygen free radicals [1].
