Expert Consensus on the Use of Diuretics in Cardiorenal Syndrome in the Elderly
Abstract:Cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) was originally defined as a clinical syndrome characterized by worsening renal function during the treatment of acute decompensated heart failure, accompanied by persistent congestion and diuretic resistance. The broad definition of CRS is considered to be a series of acute or chronic heart and kidney diseases characterized by mutual deterioration. That is, when one organ's functional damage cannot be compensated by the other organ, a vicious cycle is formed, ultimately leading to combined cardiac and renal dysfunction.
