Advances in the Study of Glycolipid Metabolism and Aging
Abstract:Aging is a biological process in which the function of the body declines with age. As a major risk factor for chronic diseases, it is closely related to diabetes and cardiovascular diseases [1]. During the aging process of the body, the ability of cellular metabolic regulation gradually decreases. The disturbance of dynamic balance in the uptake, conversion, storage, and utilization of carbohydrates and lipids (glycolipid metabolism) is an important characteristic. With aging, the body exhibits metabolic changes such as decreased insulin sensitivity, reduced basal metabolic rate, and redistribution of fat. These metabolic abnormalities are not only important markers of aging but are also closely related to the occurrence and development of various aging-related diseases [2].
