Research Progress on the Long Non-coding RNA-microRNA-messenger RNA Axis in Programmed Cell Death After Ischemic Stroke
Abstract:Ischemic stroke (IS) is an acute cerebrovascular disease caused by the blockage of local blood supply to the brain, leading to local neuronal injury and death [1]. After IS occurs, neurons deprived of oxygen and nutrients will rapidly die, followed by a series of pathological processes, including disruption of the blood-brain barrier integrity, oxidative stress response, neuroinflammation, and apoptosis. Programmed cell death (PCD) is an active and orderly form of cell death determined by genes, which is essential for maintaining normal cell cycles and tissue homeostasis.
