Research Progress on the Role of Lactic Acid in the Pathogenesis of Parkinson's Disease
Abstract:Parkinson's disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder of the central nervous system, mainly affecting motor function. Its core pathological feature is the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, leading to a significant decrease in dopamine levels in the striatum. In addition, the formation of Lewy bodies is commonly found in the brains of PD patients. Lewy bodies are intracellular inclusions formed by the abnormal aggregation of alpha-synuclein (α-Syn), which may be related to impaired autophagy and protein metabolism disorders [1].
