Application of Ectopic Tricuspid Valve Implantation for the Treatment of Severe Tricuspid Regurgitation in Elderly Patients
Abstract:Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is one of the common valvular heart diseases in the elderly. Severe TR can cause signs of right heart failure such as venous congestion and is associated with poor prognosis [1]. Medication is difficult to effectively control the progression of severe TR, and tricuspid valve surgery can improve patient outcomes [2]. However, isolated tricuspid valve surgical procedures carry a high risk, and their clinical application rate is low, especially in elderly patients, where comorbidities significantly increase the surgical risk. In recent years, guidelines have suggested that transcatheter tricuspid valve intervention should be performed in patients with TR who are not suitable for surgical treatment, and the short-term outcomes have been promising [3-4]. We report two cases of elderly patients with severe TR treated with transcatheter ectopic tricuspid valve implantation, providing a reference for interventional treatment of TR in the elderly.
