The Role of Alpha-Synuclein in Parkinson's Disease
Abstract:Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease, with more than 10 million people affected globally [1]. The risk of PD is positively correlated with age, and its incidence is increasing year by year due to the aging population [2]. PD symptoms include motor symptoms such as bradykinesia, rigidity, and resting tremor, as well as non-motor symptoms such as autonomic dysfunction, sleep disorders, olfactory dysfunction, and emotional and cognitive impairments [3].
