Research progress on NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing protein 3 inflammasome-mediated pyroptosis in vascular dementia
Abstract:Vascular dementia (VD) refers to a neurodegenerative disease characterized by memory decline and cognitive dysfunction caused by various cerebrovascular diseases and a series of cerebrovascular factors (such as ischemic and hemorrhagic types). Its mechanisms include cerebral small vessel disease, cerebral hypoperfusion hypoxia, oxidative stress and inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, and disruption of the blood-brain barrier. During cerebral hypoperfusion hypoxia, excessive reactive oxygen species are produced in endothelial cells, inducing oxidative stress. Cerebrovascular factors lead to changes in blood-brain barrier permeability, combined with excessive activation of pro-inflammatory cytokines, exacerbating neuroinflammatory responses.
