Challenges and Strategies in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases with Comorbidities in the Elderly
Abstract:With the acceleration of China's aging process, the number of elderly people has increased rapidly. In the elderly population, the coexistence of multiple diseases is extremely common. A recent meta-analysis including 193 studies worldwide showed that the prevalence of comorbidity in individuals aged 74 and older can reach 67% [1]. Cardiovascular disease, as a common disease and the leading cause of death in the elderly, often coexists with other chronic diseases, i.e., comorbidities in elderly patients with cardiovascular disease.
